Job Summary

The Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the housekeeping team, ensuring that high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and guest satisfaction are consistently met across the property. The role requires hands-on supervision of daily operations while promoting a positive, professional, and respectful team culture. The Supervisor is expected to lead by example, demonstrating exceptional communication, organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence. This job description outlines the main responsibilities but is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned as necessary to meet business requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight

Supervise the daily activities of Room Attendants, Public Area Assistants, and Linen Porters to ensure adherence to operational standards.
Carry out scheduled inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness meets company and client expectations.
Notify the Head Housekeeper or relevant departments when rooms are ready for occupancy.
Support the delivery of daily room and task assignments, ensuring fair workload distribution and coverage during absences or peak periods.

Quality Assurance

Conduct quality control checks of cleaned rooms and service areas, ensuring consistent delivery of housekeeping standards.
Take corrective action when cleaning falls below expected levels, offering coaching and feedback where necessary.
Monitor and report service trends to the Head Housekeeper or Area Manager.

Stock and Inventory Management

Supervise the linen room, monitor stock levels of cleaning materials, guest supplies, and equipment.
Notify the Head Housekeeper of stock shortages and support restocking activities.
Ensure storage areas are tidy, safe, and well-organised at all times.

Staff Training & Development

Assist with onboarding and on-the-job training for new staff members in line with company standards and procedures.
Provide ongoing coaching to staff, encouraging continuous development and skills improvement.
Support team meetings by sharing updates, reinforcing policies, and encouraging team input.

Team Leadership & Management Behaviour

Lead by example, setting high standards of conduct, reliability, and service.
Promote a positive team environment based on mutual respect, inclusivity, and collaboration.
Address performance issues fairly and professionally, following company procedures and escalating when appropriate.
Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all employee-related matters.
Recognise team achievements and support employee morale and motivation.

Customer Focus

Act as a visible point of contact for guest requests or concerns related to housekeeping.
Resolve issues efficiently and with empathy, escalating where necessary.
Uphold the highest levels of guest service and contribute to an exceptional overall guest experience.

Compliance & Administration

Ensure all work is carried out in line with company policies including health and safety, fire safety, COSHH, and hygiene.
Maintain accurate records as required, including inspection checklists and attendance logs.
Complete any additional cleaning or reporting tasks as requested by the Head Housekeeper or Area Manager.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

Health and Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The Supervisor must:

Comply fully with WGC Ltd Health & Safety Policy and relevant legislation.
Ensure staff follow correct procedures for manual handling, PPE use, COSHH, and fire safety.
Promptly report any hazards, risks, or incidents to the appropriate manager.
Encourage a safety-conscious working environment and ensure team adherence to safe working practices.

Qualifications & Education

A good standard of general education is required.
Training in Health & Safety, Manual Handling, and COSHH (training can be provided).

Experience Required

Previous experience in a housekeeping supervisory role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality setting.
Experience managing or guiding a team is essential.
