We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Thameside, a category B prison located in London.

HMP Thameside is a busy male resettlement prison with a capacity for 1232 inmates. We are recruiting for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to support the wider healthcare team.

Hours

You will be required to work a mixture of days, nights and weekend shifts.

28.5 hours per week.

Rota basis – monthly.

0930 – 1800 - 9.5 hours – days

2130 – 0745 - 11.25 hours – nights

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £32,134 per annum

What you'll be doing

As a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
Excellent communication skills
Good IT skills and IT literacy
Ability to work within a busy environment
Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
