Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Wrap Around Care Site Lead and Wrap Around Care Assistant to support the provision of high-quality after-school care for children from September 2026. The roles will be based in the Hemsworth or surrounding areas of Wakefield. The successful candidates will work as part of a dedicated team to create a safe, fun, and engaging environment that meets the needs of all children in our care. Running from early afternoon to 6pm each day.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage children in a variety of age-appropriate activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Assist in planning and delivering creative and stimulating activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor play, and group games.
Provide support during snack and mealtime routines, promoting healthy eating habits and good table manners.
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to ensure a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Encourage good behaviour and social development through positive reinforcement and role modelling.
Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children by adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
Assist in setting up and tidying away activities and equipment, ensuring a clean and organised environment.
Follow health and safety regulations, reporting any concerns to the Wrap Around Care Manager.
Support children with additional needs, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.
Undertake any relevant training and development opportunities as required.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or playwork setting.
A passion for working with children and supporting their development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach.
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare, Playwork, or a related field.
Previous experience in a school or childcare setting.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a childcare environment.

Additional Information:

This role requires an enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to all school policies and procedures.
