Full job description

To assist in the delivery of construction, renovation, and maintenance projects by carrying out a range of building and labouring duties. The General Build Operative will work as part of a team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general construction and building tasks on residential sites.
Perform basic bricklaying, concreting, paving, and drainage works as required.
Support skilled tradespeople including carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, and plasterers.
Load, unload, and move construction materials, tools, and equipment around site.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Identify and report hazards, defects, or safety concerns.
Assist with property maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment works.
Ensure all work is completed to quality standards and within project timescales.

Skills and Experience

Essential

Previous experience working within construction, building, or maintenance environments.
Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling duties.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

CSCS Card.
Experience in multiple construction trades.
Plant or machinery operation certificates.
Experience in refurbishment and maintenance projects.

Personal Attributes

Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and under supervision.
Flexible and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
