Full job description

Up to 30 Hours per Week (by Agreement) | Flexible Working | Ludgershall

Join our award-winning, independent accountancy practice and become a valued member of our friendly, growing team.

EP Tax is an award-winning, independent accountancy and tax practice based in Ludgershall. We provide tailored accountancy and taxation services to individuals, landlords and small businesses, taking pride in building long-term client relationships through exceptional personal service.

As our practice continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, takes pride in producing accurate financial records, and wants to play an important role within a growing practice.

We anticipate the role will be up to 30 hours per week, with the exact hours agreed with the successful candidate. We offer flexibility around working hours between **8:30am and 5:00pm**, with hybrid working available following a successful probationary period.

The Role

You'll work closely with a varied portfolio of clients, providing accurate bookkeeping services while supporting the wider accounting team.

Your responsibilities will include:

Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
Processing purchase and sales invoices, bank transactions and journals.
Reconciling bank accounts and balance sheet control accounts.
Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
Using cloud accounting software, primarily Xero, to maintain client records.
Managing day-to-day client queries and building strong working relationships.
Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts by maintaining accurate bookkeeping records and liaising with the wider accounting team.
Assisting with other practice work as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Has a minimum of 2 years' recent bookkeeping experience within a UK accountancy practice (essential).
Is confident preparing bookkeeping records and VAT returns independently.
Has a good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
Is proficient with cloud accounting software, ideally Xero, and Microsoft Excel.
Is organised, proactive and able to manage multiple client deadlines
Has excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Is committed to delivering outstanding client service.
Can work from our Ludgershall office, with hybrid working available after probation.
