What is the role?

Are you passionate about bringing people together, creating opportunities, and helping communities thrive?

We're looking for a Community Engagement Co-ordinator to lead community development initiatives at our Fir Tree Drive Community Centre.

In this varied and rewarding role, you'll work closely with customers, community groups, volunteers, colleagues and partner organisations to develop activities, projects and services that make a meaningful difference to local people.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the centre remains a welcoming, vibrant and sustainable community hub, while also managing our successful community food pantry and supporting local residents to have their voices heard and acted upon.

This is a part time 24 hrs permanent job opportunity at our Fir Tree Drive Community Centre.

This role involves travelling independently as part of day-to-day duties. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.

What you’ll be doing

Working with local communities to identify needs, opportunities and priorities.
Planning, coordinating and delivering community events, projects and engagement activities.
Building strong partnerships with local organisations, agencies and community groups.
Supporting customers to access relevant services and opportunities.
Managing the day-to-day operation of Fir Tree Drive Community Centre, including bookings, compliance and facilities oversight.
Recruiting, supporting and coordinating volunteers.
Leading the weekly food pantry, including supplier relationships, food safety compliance and stock management.
Gathering community feedback and using it to shape services and activities.
Supporting funding applications and helping secure resources for community projects.

What you’ll bring

Experience of community engagement, community development or a related field, with a passion for creating positive outcomes for local communities.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, volunteers, partners and stakeholders.
Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering projects, activities or initiatives while managing competing priorities.
A proactive, resilient and customer-focused approach, with good IT and administrative skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Experience of supporting or coordinating volunteers and using collaborative approaches to engage and empower communities.
Knowledge or experience of co-production, strengths-based approaches, food safety, budget management, supplier liaison and risk assessment would be advantageous.
