Activities Assistant / Play Worker – Casual/Cover/Bank Staff (Zero Hours Contract)

£12.75 – £14.00 per hour | Southwark

Magna Groups, an Ofsted‑registered childcare provider, is seeking enthusiastic Activities Assistants / Play Workers to join our teams on a casual, zero‑hours basis. This role is ideal for individuals looking for flexible work supporting children aged 5–11 in our Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs.

Location; Southwark – must be able to commute to SE1 / SE15 / SE16 / SE22

Hours (Flexible, As Needed)

Breakfast Club: 7:30am – 9:00am
Afterschool Club: 2:30pm – 6:00pm

Shifts offered based on site requirements – no guaranteed hours

Pay: £12.75 – £14.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities

Support and deliver fun, age‑appropriate activities for children aged 5–11
Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging play environment
Encourage children’s social, emotional, and physical development through play
Build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members
Maintain clean, safe, and organised activity spaces
Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times

About You

Experience working with children (play work, childcare, education, or similar)
Passionate, reliable, and confident engaging with children
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Able to work independently and adapt to different settings

Desirable (but not essential):

Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Play work
Paediatric First Aid qualification
