Full job description

Job Title: Refrigeration Engineer
Location: London
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 per year
Working pattern: Full-time, with Sundays off

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to join a well-established, privately owned food manufacturing and airline catering business based in London.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing refrigeration, air-conditioning and ventilation systems across the site. This is a practical, hands-on role within a growing and supportive organisation.

Key responsibilities

Repair and maintain air-conditioning systems, chillers, freezers and refrigeration equipment
Identify faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently
Carry out planned preventative maintenance on refrigeration, air-conditioning, air source heat pump and ventilation units
Attend reactive service calls and breakdowns
Work on split air-conditioning units, VRF systems and air source heat pumps
Install air-conditioning and refrigeration systems
Complete mechanical and electrical work relating to refrigeration equipment
Ensure all installations and repairs meet safety and legal requirements
Read and work from technical drawings
Support the Chief Engineer and wider engineering team
Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance work

Essential requirements

Current F-Gas certification
Previous experience as a Refrigeration Engineer, Air-Conditioning Engineer or Refrigeration Technician
Experience working with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems
Good fault-finding and repair skills
Understanding of refrigeration electrical systems
Ability to work safely and follow site procedures
Good written and spoken communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Practical and reliable approach to work

Desirable experience

Experience installing and maintaining ventilation systems
Knowledge of air source heat pumps
Experience working in food manufacturing, catering or another production environment
Previous supervisory or leadership experience
