Team Leader - Change

The General Medical Council (GMC) works to protect patient safety and improve medical education and practice across the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience of leadership and people management to join our Change and Knowledge Management (CKM) team as a Team Coordinator, within the Registration and Revalidation directorate (R&R).

You’ll lead a team of Support Advisers, driving team success by supporting their personal and professional development. You’ll help them to grow both their soft and technical skills, through coaching and regular feedback, managing performance effectively to motivate the team and proactively addressing underperformance when required. You’ll be innovative and collaborative in your management style, drawing on your compassionate leadership skills, while providing clear direction and support to ensure team and business-wide objectives are met.

The team you lead will support the facilitation and implementation of system and process changes across the R&R directorate. They will do this by sizing potential changes, providing accurate and timely documentation, and communicating changes to stakeholders. They will also provide systems support to operational teams within the directorate, working with technical teams to resolve issues at pace. You’ll support the team to deliver the portfolio of change initiatives by organising their resource effectively, using capacity management tools to forecast work and making plans to help them to deliver work on time and to a high quality. You’ll monitor these capacity management tools alongside performance management data to make informed decisions about work allocation.

You’ll work best in an environment that encourages continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve processes and ways of working. You’ll work collaboratively with your line reports to analyse and map processes, before creating innovative and persuasive proposals, in the form of business cases and recommendation documents. This will require you to be highly organised and plan your time and your team’s time to manage the various workstreams, balancing your own workload with the priorities of the team effectively. You’ll foster collaboration further by planning, coordinating and facilitating team events and activities, demonstrating creativity to secure engagement and to support your line reports to build effective working relationships across the wider CKM team.

Salary

This role sits within our Manchester L4 band. To recognise the technical nature of the role, the salary is aligned to our IT and Data (35 hours) salary band.

This is a hybrid role between home working and office working. You’ll work in the office at least 1 day per week, usually on a Tuesday. We may ask you to attend the office on additional days where necessary as required for induction, training and business needs. We are happy to support a range of flexible working options.
