Full job description

You will:

Carry out inspections and lead complex investigations across a range of Trading Standards functions to ensure compliance with legislation, protecting consumers and supporting legitimate businesses.
Investigate complaints, gather evidence and take appropriate enforcement action.
Provide expert advice and support to businesses and provide advice through Primary Authority Partnerships, helping businesses achieve and maintain compliance.
Lead and deliver projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partner agencies to achieve shared objectives for consumers, businesses and communities.
Support and contribute to preventative initiatives, campaigns and projects that raise awareness, improve compliance and reduce the incidence of consumer detriment.
Support, mentor, and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting high professional standards across the service.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

A recognised Trading Standards qualification (DTS, DCATS, DCA or Stage 2 CTSI Professional Competency Framework). Applications are also welcome from part-qualified candidates who are committed to developing their professional competence through our career progression framework. Appointment grade and salary will reflect qualifications, competency and relevant experience.

Partnership Working – Build effective partnerships and lead successful projects to achieve positive outcomes and support preventative approaches for both residents and businesses.
Problem Solving and Prevention – Identify emerging risks, trends and areas of potential consumer harm and take a proactive approach to preventing problems before they escalate.
Adaptability – Demonstrate a flexible approach and a positive, can-do attitude.
