Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, operating forklifts safely, and supporting shipping and receiving operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where safety, accuracy, and mechanical aptitude are highly valued.

Applicants must possess relevant warehouse experience and be comfortable performing heavy lifting tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Duties

Operate forklift equipment to load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse
Manage shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing
Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and stock levels
Handle materials carefully, adhering to safety protocols during loading and unloading activities
Support the overall efficiency of warehouse operations by collaborating with team members and supervisors
Conduct safety checks before operating equipment and report any issues promptly
Work both dayshift and backshift (Monday to Friday).

Skills

Proven experience operating forklift trucks in a warehouse environment
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures
Proficiency in materials handling techniques with attention to safety standards
Ability to load & unload goods efficiently while maintaining accuracy
Experience with shipping & receiving processes including documentation and compliance requirements
Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately
Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure safety and efficiency in all operations

This position is integral to maintaining smooth warehouse operations through safe equipment handling and effective materials management. We welcome motivated candidates eager to contribute their skills within a supportive team environment.

Initial contract will be 6 months, with an option of a permanent contract after conclusion of the 6 month contract.

Rate advertised is entry level with opportunity to improve basic pay banding.

Pay: £13.34-£15.64 per hour
