Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Stores Person to manage inventory and facilitate efficient warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling materials using a FLT, therefore a valid forklift licence, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring smooth shipping and receiving processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge to contribute to a well-organised storage environment.

Duties

Operate forklift and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
Manage stock levels using Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 systems
Handle materials, including loading, unloading, picking, and packing items
Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and stock levels
Assist with shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods
Conduct regular stock checks and organise storage areas for optimal accessibility
Support mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all warehouse activities
Collaborate with team members to optimise warehouse workflow and productivity

Requirements

Proven experience in warehouse management or similar roles
Valid forklift licence or certification essential
Familiarity with Warehouse Management System (WMS) and AS400 is advantageous
Strong materials handling skills, including heavy lifting and manual dexterity
Mechanical knowledge or experience in construction environments is a plus
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Physical fitness to handle demanding tasks involving lifting and moving heavy items
Previous experience in shipping & receiving, stocking, or logistics is desirable
