Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and hospitality to develop their skills within a professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to grow their career in the food industry.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs with food production, ensuring quality and presentation meet organisational guidelines
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Assist in the supervision of junior kitchen staff and trainees, fostering a collaborative team environment
Ensure all ingredients and supplies are prepared, stored, and utilised efficiently
Contribute to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and food safety procedures within the kitchen
Support the team during service times by serving dishes promptly and assisting with customer requests when necessary
Participate in stock control, inventory checks, and ordering supplies as required

Skills

Proven experience in a kitchen environment, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings
Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
Demonstrated leadership abilities with supervising experience preferred
Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate colleagues under pressure
Good organisational skills with an eye for detail in food presentation and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of culinary techniques across various cuisines is desirable
Experience in serving customers or supporting front-of-house operations is advantageous
Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
