Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic, organised and dynamic Front of House & Salon Manager to oversee the smooth running of our queer owned, very busy salon, lead the front-of-house experience and support the wider salon team.

This is a hands-on role combining exceptional client service, salon administration, team coordination and day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for keeping the salon organised, ensuring the diary runs efficiently, monitoring stock levels and orders, supporting the team and creating a welcoming, professional environment for every client.

Previous experience within a salon, hair, beauty or similar customer-focused environment would be highly desirable, particularly experience with salon systems, stock management and coordinating a busy team.

Key Duties

Support the front-of-house team, ensuring consistently excellent and welcoming client service
Oversee the day-to-day running of the salon, ensuring the team, diary and client journey run smoothly
Manage appointments, cancellations, rescheduling, walk-ins, phone calls and client enquiries
Coordinate the salon diary and work closely with stylists to maximise appointment availability and minimise downtime
Monitor salon stock levels, including professional products, retail products and general salon supplies
Place and manage stock orders, ensuring essential products and supplies are always available while avoiding unnecessary over-ordering
Receive deliveries, check orders against invoices and maintain accurate stock records
Carry out regular stock checks and communicate any discrepancies, low stock or ordering requirements to management
Support and maintain attractive, organised retail displays and salon merchandising
Monitor retail sales and encourage the team to confidently recommend appropriate products to clients
Support stylists with smooth appointment preparation and ensure salon standards are maintained throughout the day
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation across the salon
Help manage team rotas, breaks, appointments and daily priorities
Support onboarding, training and development of front-of-house and salon team members
Address day-to-day issues calmly and confidently, escalating matters to senior management when appropriate
Complete administrative tasks including payments, records, booking systems and general salon administration
Work closely with management to identify ways to improve efficiency, client experience and salon performance
Help create a positive, energetic and inclusive salon environment where both clients and staff feel comfortable and valued

Ideal Experience & Skills

Previous experience in a salon, hair, beauty, spa or similar service-based environment is highly desirable
Experience using a salon booking system such as Fresha or similar
Experience with stock control, stock ordering and managing salon supplies
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced salon environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Confident dealing with clients, staff, suppliers and day-to-day operational issues
Experience leading, supporting or coordinating a team
Good commercial awareness, including retail sales and managing stock responsibly
Professional and confident telephone manner
Comfortable using computers and completing administrative tasks
Energetic, proactive and able to take initiative rather than waiting to be asked

Previous salon experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates from other fast-paced customer service, hospitality or retail management backgrounds who can demonstrate strong organisation, leadership and operational skills.

Pay: £17.00-£25.00 per hour
