Senior Practice Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to join our friendly and growing accountancy practice on a full-time basis.

This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys all aspects of general practice rather than specialising in one area. You will work with a wide range of clients, preparing year-end accounts, Personal Tax Returns, Corporation Tax Returns, VAT Returns and payroll, whilst providing day-to-day advice and support to clients. There may also be opportunities to assist with audit work.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and enjoys building long-term relationships with clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and progressive practice.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
Preparing and submitting Self Assessment Tax Returns.
Preparing Corporation Tax Returns.
Preparing and reviewing VAT Returns.
Processing payroll and dealing with PAYE matters.
Advising clients on day-to-day accounting, tax and business matters.
Liaising directly with clients and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner.
Preparing and maintaining client records using software including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team where appropriate.
Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in accordance with current legislation.
Assisting with audit assignments where required.

About You

The successful candidate will:

Be ACA or ACCA qualified.
Have recent experience working within an accountancy practice.
Have experience preparing statutory year-end accounts.
Be confident preparing Self Assessment and Corporation Tax Returns.
Have a good working knowledge of VAT and payroll.
Be proficient in Xero, Sage and QuickBooks (or similar cloud accounting software).
Have excellent communication and client relationship skills.
Be well organised with strong attention to detail.
Be able to manage their own workload and meet deadlines.
Enjoy working as part of a collaborative team and be willing to support colleagues whenever needed.
