About the role

Based within the Criminal Justice Centre, this team operates as the front-door triage function for Family Help services. It is responsible for reviewing referrals, assessing needs, and determining the appropriate level of support.

Using the Right Support, Right Time framework, the team makes clear and timely decisions, engaging with families and partners through solution-focused conversations. This ensures that families are directed quickly to the most appropriate support for their needs.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

Review and assess Family Help referrals that come through the ‘front door’, identifying when needs may require a tier 3 intervention or Family Help Support and experience of using Right Support, Right Time to applying threshold confidently to determine the appropriate response.
Engage directly with families and partner agencies, having strong, solution‑focused conversations to identify what support is needed.
Record clear, timely decision‑making on case management systems to ensure accurate audit trails.
Work collaboratively within a fast‑paced triage environment, providing advice and guidance on Family Help pathways for support to families and partners.

About you

You have strong experience supporting children, young people and families who need early help, with a good understanding of local thresholds, Early Help processes and how partner agencies work together.
You’re confident assessing need, giving clear advice to professionals and coordinating support through a multi‑agency approach.
You're curious, with an ability to build relationships quickly and ask the right questions
You build positive relationships, communicate well and can influence and challenge when needed.
Highly organised, you manage a busy workload with competing priorities, make sound decisions and keep accurate records.

Above all, you work in a way that puts the safety, wellbeing and voice of children and families at the centre of everything you do.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
