Full job description

We’re looking for a detail-focused Payroll/Account Manager to proactively manage Direct Payment accounts, validate timesheets and invoices, and ensure compliance with pension and payroll regulations. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely payments for Direct Payment Holders and their Personal Assistants.

This is a permanent, full time role at 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday), working on a hybrid basis from your home and Chelmsford office, with occasional visits attend event days in Thurrock, Essex.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Direct Payment accounts, including monitoring funds and chasing contributions
Upload and approve invoices and timesheets, resolving discrepancies
Process payroll and payments accurately and on time
Maintain accurate records across CRM, payroll and accounting systems
Ensure pension auto-enrolment and employer/employee contributions are correctly managed
Reconcile accounts and provide data for KPI reporting
Respond to customer enquiries and manage account changes
Identify and escalate safeguarding or financial risk concerns

About You

Essential:

Eligibility to work in the UK
Ability to commute to Chelmsford and Thurrock in Essex
Substantial previous payroll experience
Strong customer service skills (phone, email, face-to-face)
Excellent attention to detail, numeracy and administration skills
Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload
IT literate, with experience using Microsoft and payroll/finance systems
Ability to commute to Chelmsford occasionally

Desirable:

Experience in pensions administration or regulatory compliance
Experience managing client accounts in a fast-paced payroll environment
