Full job description

Finance Manager

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for financial control, management reporting, cash flow management, compliance, and process improvement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business performance and driving continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Working Capital Management

Manage daily cash flow and weekly cash requirements.
Oversee creditor and debtor ledgers, ensuring accuracy and effective management of overdue debt.
Perform daily bank reconciliations.

Management Accounting

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, including maintaining fully reconciled balance sheets.
Provide financial analysis and performance reporting to support business decision-making.

Compliance & HMRC Reporting

Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
Prepare and reconcile CIS returns.
Maintain robust financial controls and audit trails.

Leadership & Support

Lead, support and develop the Accounts Assistant.
Provide payroll cover during periods of absence.
Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.

About You

Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or in a similar finance role.
Experience managing cash flow and working capital.
Strong knowledge of management accounts, VAT, CIS and financial controls.
Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working within an SME environment.

Qualifications

AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) desirable.
Candidates with relevant finance experience will also be considered.
