Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Early Years Practitioner to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of early years staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and education for children aged 0-5 years. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on young children's development within a nurturing environment. The Senior Early Years Practitioner will utilise their management and leadership skills to foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating setting that promotes learning and wellbeing.

Duties

Lead and supervise a team of early years practitioners, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children’s developmental milestones
Monitor and assess children’s progress, maintaining detailed records in line with regulatory standards
Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children at all times, adhering to health and safety regulations
Support staff development through mentoring, coaching, and organising training sessions
Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment conducive to learning and play
Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of the setting’s practices to improve quality standards
Assist with administrative duties including planning documentation, attendance records, and compliance reports
Drive organisational initiatives that promote inclusive practice and continuous improvement

Experience

Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early years setting
Demonstrable management or leadership experience in childcare or education environments
Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles and childcare regulations
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Experience in planning educational activities tailored to different age groups
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking initiative when required
Valid driving licence is desirable for travel between settings or community engagement activities

Pay: From £12.90 per hour
