Full job description

Overview:

We are seeking a driven, meticulous, advanced-level bookkeeper and VAT professional to join our team on a part-time, contracted basis. As a critical hire for our growing business, you will be instrumental in our expansion by overseeing and managing a portfolio of customers from a wide range of industries, and their equally varied and unique work requirements.

This role demands (and suitably rewards) a trustworthy and diligent person who can demonstrate an exemplary understanding of every aspect of bookkeeping and VAT return preparation. You will be able to hit the ground running in these areas, having 3 or more years of demonstrable experience.

Crucially, you must share our cultural values of a collaborative team ethic in work, embrace learning, and where necessary, adapt your own processes to meet the exact requirements of our customers too.

Technical duties:

To deliver the following services across multiple, varied customer accounts:

- Bookkeeping

- VAT return preparation

Advantageous:

- Demonstrable experience in processing payroll, RTI and pension filings for companies varying in head count.

General duties:

- To maintain and update internal CRM software multiple times on a daily basis, ensuring the accuracy of our customer data is exemplary at all times.

- Be willing to ‘muck-in’ and assist in extra administrative tasks from time to time.

Requirements:

- Demonstrate a minimum of 3+ years’ experience fulfilling a similar role, either in practice or industry.

- An expert knowledge of Xero accounting software is essential. Ideally you will be a Certified User.

- A knowledge of Quickbooks, Free Agent, Sage and Excel is advantageous.

- Excellent analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.

- Excellent written and verbal communication. Must be comfortable facilitating regular, pro-active communication with customers in person, via email and telephone.

- Must be comfortable regularly spending time on site with customers.

- The ability to problem-solve and recommend efficiencies/improvements to customer processes, should the opportunity arise.

- The confidence to communicate internally with all colleagues and management, to openly raise any issues and ask for help whenever you need it.

- The ability to organise and prioritise your own workload, performing as expected and maintaining the highest standards within agreed timescales and deadlines.

- The ability to handle sensitive information with absolute discretion and professionalism, ensuring 100% confidentiality.

- Be a proven self-starter. The kind of person who wants to work autonomously and get the job done without the need for micro-management or supervision.

- Be motivated by paid bonuses for technical and communicative accuracy.

Pay and benefits:

- Part-time @ 3 days per week office-based employment = £30,000 per annum pro-rata

- Quarterly performance bonuses for meeting internal and external compliance targets
