Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our Japanese Restaurant. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver high-quality food service. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cleaning duties, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable culinary and hospitality experience within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with basic food preparation tasks under the supervision of senior kitchen staff
Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients as required for daily menus
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes and utensils promptly
Ensure all kitchen equipment and surfaces are sanitised and organised according to health and safety standards
Support with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness and availability of ingredients
Assist in setting up workstations for meal service and clearing down after service
Follow hygiene protocols diligently to uphold cleanliness standards within the kitchen environment
Support serving staff during busy periods when necessary

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential
Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and hospitality services
Good organisational skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
Flexibility to adapt to varying shift patterns as required by the business

Pay: From £12.21 per hour
