Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our operational team for a Band 8A Deputy Operations Manager to the Clinical Administration Division. The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge but must be prepared to work and travel to other site at Huntington on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will be dynamic and either an experienced manager or aspiring leader with solid operational experience. The role requires you to work closely with operational and clinical colleagues within the triumvirate divisional structure to provide leadership and management of resource, performance and standards of care. We welcome both clinical and non-clinical applicants with strong flow and discharge experience.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

The successful candidate will lead the Bed Management, Reception, Discharge Specialist nurses, Switchboard and Transport teams, overseeing the provision of safe and effective management of patient flow within the Trust. You will work collaboratively with the clinical operational teams to ensure leadership and management of resource, performance and standards of care

The post-holder will continually review the services and contribute to the strategic direction of these and the Trust whilst optimising efficiency and capacity within the set financial budget to achieve SIP/CIP annual targets.

The position offers a proactive and motivated person the chance to expand and develop their current skill set while, at the same time, delivering within an organisation committed to developing a collective and compassionate culture.

Management or professional qualification at postgraduate level or equivalent experience

Evidence of continuing education and development

Excellence interpersonally; articulates creative, selfaware, controlled and confident including goodperformance under stress with the ability to think andoperate tactically

Innovative, pro-active, resourceful and self-motivated with a good understanding of IT and systems

Ability to meet the fundamental aspects of the role. Andbe able to work flexibly

Desirable

RGN with a degree in health related subject and demonstrate relevant experience of working at post degree level.

Masters Degree in health related subject or demonstrate relevant experience of working at post degree level.

Understanding of relevant Government health strategies and implications for nursing. Previous experience of advanced clinical practice. Ward/Team Management experience

Management qualification and silver standard major incident training

Senior Operational Management experience and a good understanding of the drivers and constraints around effective bed management and formal line management of teams.

Experience of working in a specialist or acute NHS setting

Good leadership skills and able to influence sustained change

Proven track record in the line management of staff

Be proficient in the use of Microsoft products word, excel and Powerpoint

Demonstrates a high level of numerical and data analyticalskills, including spreadsheets and databases

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to problem solve
