Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive college environment, providing tailored support to learners aged 16–19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learners’ academic, social, and personal development, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact within an inclusive education setting, supporting learners with a range of additional needs including autism and complex learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners with SEND aged 16–19.
Assist teaching staff in delivering personalised learning programmes and support strategies.
Support learners with autism, disabilities, and a range of additional needs.
Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement within the learning environment.
Assist learners with communication, social development, and emotional regulation.
Implement positive behaviour support strategies in line with college policies.
Support learners during lessons, breaks, transitions, and college activities.
Adapt support approaches to meet individual learner needs.
Monitor and record learner progress, behaviour, and development.
Work closely with teaching staff, support teams, and other professionals to ensure learners receive effective support.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all learners.

Requirements

Experience working with young people or adults with SEND within an education, college, or care setting.
Experience supporting individuals with autism, disabilities, or complex needs.
Must hold both a Child and Adult DBS check.
Must be available to work full-time hours.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and professionals.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team within a busy college environment.

Pay: £15.00 per hour
