Deputy Manager at The Manor Residential Home

About Us

The Manor Residential Home (Arnold) Ltd is a well-respected long-term residential care home located in the heart of Church Street, Arnold, just 4 miles north of Nottingham. With 27 beds, our home specializes in offering tailored support to both male and female residents aged 65 and over who require assistance with daily activities such as washing, dressing, mobility, and all aspects of personal care. While we do not provide nursing care, our focus is on fostering a supportive, warm, and caring environment for individuals who can no longer live independently.

We are looking for a Deputy Manager to support our Registered Manager in leading our dedicated team and ensuring the continued provision of exceptional care. This role is distinct from the Home Manager position and focuses heavily on day-to-day operational support, staff coordination, and clinical administration.

Key Responsibilities

· Resident Care & Assessments: You will be responsible for conducting new resident assessments, and completing the required admission paperwork. You will also manage ongoing care planning and formally review care plans on an adhoc and monthly basis.

· Medical & Multidisciplinary Coordination: Manage all aspects of medication, including handling scripts, drug changeover (DCO) returns, and controlled drugs. You will also liaise closely with GPs and participate in MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) reviews and meetings.

· Staff Leadership & Management: Oversee general staff management and assist with staff recruitment. You will conduct staff inductions for care roles and carry out ongoing staff supervisions.

· Rota & Shift Coverage: Manage staff schedules and rota planning using RotaCloud. You will be expected to provide on-call support and help cover shifts in the event of an emergency.

· Auditing & Compliance: Conduct regular care home audits, including performing specific medication audits, cream audits, kitchen audits, mattress audits and more.. You must also ensure that all safeguarding procedures are strictly upheld.

· Administration & Finance: Complete essential monthly paperwork, including managing residents' monies safely and ensure all necessary documents are scanned and filed.

· Liasing with Families: You will be required to keep families upto date and deal with any complaints and safeguardings.

· Starting Rate: £14.00 per hour, depending on experience.

What We're Looking For:

· Previous experience in a senior care or management role within a residential care setting.

· Strong knowledge of the needs of older people.

· Experience leading and supporting a care team.

· Good understanding of safeguarding, care planning, risk management and CQC requirements.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· The ability to work confidently with residents, families, staff and external professionals.

· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

· A positive, practical and compassionate approach to care.

· Good knowledge and understanding of Information Technology including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Emails, Scanning Documents, and use of Care Software.

· The confidence to make decisions and take responsibility when required.

· A relevant care qualification such as Level 3 in Health and Social Care is desirable, and management experience within a CQC-regulated service would be an advantage.
