Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and child development. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team of childcare professionals, ensure the highest standards of care, and foster a nurturing environment for children. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining organisational efficiency, supporting staff, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate local travel as required.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the nursery team, including staff recruitment, training, and performance appraisals
Develop and implement educational programmes aligned with early childhood development principles
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted standards
Oversee daily operations, including enrolment procedures, parent communication, and administrative tasks
Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes learning and well-being for children aged from infancy to preschool age
organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours
Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children's progress and addressing concerns promptly
Monitor nursery budgets and resources to ensure efficient utilisation
Keep up-to-date with developments in early childhood education and childcare legislation

Skills

Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
Extensive knowledge of early childhood education practices and child development stages
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Ability to motivate and inspire a team of childcare professionals
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Experience working directly with children and understanding their individual needs
Valid driving licence to facilitate local travel between nursery sites or community events (nice-to-have)
Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant authorities (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent)
