Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for the right individual to come join our kitchen team here at Patina.

Working in our savoury kitchen the cafe chef oversees production of our savoury cafe options; including soups sausage rolls and sandwiches.

We also operate a service menu, so some experience in service is a bonus, however we can teach you all the skills you need.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient food preparation and service
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation
Manage food safety protocols, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with regulations
Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of ingredients and kitchen supplies
Monitor inventory levels, minimise waste, and control food costs effectively
Train staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and customer service standards
Ensure all dishes are prepared in accordance with recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement

Skills

Proven experience in food production, cooking, and kitchen management within a café or restaurant setting
Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under pressure
Leadership qualities that foster teamwork, communication, and staff development
Competence in menu planning, food presentation, and culinary innovation
Experience in hospitality environments with a focus on customer satisfaction and service excellence
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality
