Housing Inclusion Worker Vacancy

Stafford & Cannock League of Hospital Friends

1 Eastgate Street, Stafford, ST16 2NQ

Area covered: Stafford, Cannock and Penkridge

Hours: 22 hours (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £16,082.99

Stafford and Cannock League of Hospital Friends is looking for a compassionate, motivated and organised Housing Inclusion Worker to join our supported housing team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with vulnerable adults, helping them maintain their accommodation, build confidence and develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible.

About the role

As a Housing Inclusion Worker, you will act as a Key Worker for an agreed number of Customers and provide tailored, person-centred housing-related support.

Working through individual Tenancy Management Plans, you will help Customers identify their goals, overcome barriers and access opportunities such as education, training, employment, volunteering and community activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Assessing Customers’ needs and developing appropriate support plans.

· Supporting Customers to maintain their accommodation and develop independent living skills.

· Helping Customers access appropriate welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit.

· Using the Recovery Star model to identify needs, goals and progress.

· Supporting Customers with payment plans and managing income due to the organisation.

· Encouraging and empowering Customers to achieve their goals and aspirations.

· Identifying, monitoring and managing risks appropriately.

· Maintaining accurate and confidential Customer records.

· Working collaboratively with clinical teams, local authorities and other external agencies.

· Participating in reviews, care-planning meetings and relevant multi-agency meetings.

· Supporting Customers to access community, volunteering, education and employment opportunities.

· Completing administrative duties, correspondence and case reviews.

· Following safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, lone-working and organisational procedures.

About you

We are looking for someone who is approachable, professional and able to build positive working relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

You will need:

· Experience of working in social housing, supported housing or the care sector.

· Experience of working with vulnerable people.

· Experience of assisting people with benefit claims and completing relevant forms.

· A good standard of written and spoken English.

· Basic numerical and administrative skills.

· Confidence using Microsoft Word, Outlook and electronic record-keeping systems.

· Strong communication, telephone and time-management skills.

· The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· A full driving licence.

· A calm, positive and flexible approach.

· The confidence to use your initiative and respond appropriately to changing circumstances.

It would be advantageous to have:

· A Level 3 Chartered Institute of Housing qualification.

· Knowledge of housing law or debt management.

· Knowledge of the current welfare benefits system and experience preparing supporting evidence.
