JOB TITLE: Skilled Artisan Baker

LOCATION: Crumbs Bakery in Watton at Stone, SG14 3SB (note, we're not in Hertford)

CONTRACT: Permanent full time over 5 days including weekend

SALARY: from £31,000 pa

Eight years and two high street shops later Crumbs is still about tasty, honest food, the people we work with, and the guests we serve it to.

You will work alongside our bakers to learn the existing repertoire of products we make. We also encourage creativity and schedule time every week for new product / technique development. You will receive regular internal and external training.

Our kitchen is open to the front of house, so you will receive instant feedback from our customers. They like to know their heroes, who makes the delicious products they come to buy from us!

EXPERIENCE AND TRAITS WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN THE BAKER:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Artisan Baker to produce sourdough bread and pastries to our recipes.
You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial bakery.
You are an early riser and a good timekeeper. Shifts start between 5 and 6am
You are diligent, methodical and have a good attention to detail
You are passionate about baking, tasting and experimenting with new recipes
It is important to you that every product is delicious and beautiful
You are unflappable under pressure. We promote a low stress environment but we are a busy bakery
You are excellent at maintaining a clean and organised working space including clean equipment, utensils and presentable uniform
You are very serious about cleanliness, hygiene and allergens
Physically strong to work on your feet the entire shift
Willing to learn new skills
You are committed to supporting your team, being polite and honest
You are fluent in English and have all legal permits to work in the UK

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE:

Prepare and measure ingredients for baking various products, ensuring adherence to recipes and quality standards.
Operate baking equipment and ovens safely and efficiently.
Monitor baking processes to ensure optimal results and maintain food safety standards.
Maintain a clean and organised workspace, following proper sanitation practices.
Collaborate with kitchen team to manage food production and inventory effectively.
Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients when possible.
