JOB TITLE: Cabin Assistant

LOCATION: Woodhouse Grove School, Apperley Bridge, Bradford, BD10 0NR

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 3.45pm – 7.00pm, Term Time Only (35 weeks).

HOLIDAY: Statutory Minimum Entitlement

RATE OF PAY: As advertised

RESPONSIBLE TO: Production Manager, Executive Chef, and anyone acting on their behalf

SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE: Supervision and guidance on working practices and procedures will be provided by Woodhouse Grove School.

START DATE: 01 September 2026

Role Overview

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic Cabin/Café Assistant to join the catering team at Woodhouse Grove School. The role is primarily based in The Cabin café, providing excellent customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors while serving a range of refreshments including tea, coffee, soft drinks, confectionery, and snacks.

The successful candidate will be approachable, organised, able to work on their own initiative, and committed to maintaining high standards of customer service, cleanliness, and food safety.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & Sales

Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, including tea and coffee.
Sell a range of refreshments, including soft drinks, confectionery, and snacks.
Operate the café counter and till, handling payments accurately and following cash handling procedures.
Provide a friendly, welcoming, and professional service to pupils, staff, and visitors.
Maintain attractive product displays and ensure items are stocked and available throughout service.

Stock & Café Operations

Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the appropriate supervisor.
Replenish products and supplies as required.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries in accordance with food safety guidelines.
Support the smooth day-to-day operation of The Cabin café.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

Adhere to food hygiene, health and safety, and allergy awareness regulations at all times.
Maintain cleanliness of the café, counter areas, equipment, and customer seating areas.
Ensure all food and drink preparation areas are kept clean, tidy, and well organised.
Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns promptly to the Production Manager or Executive Chef.

Teamwork & Communication

Work collaboratively with catering and facilities colleagues.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding stock, supplies, or operational issues.
Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.

Person Specification

Essential:

Must be over 18 years of age.
A motivated individual with a positive attitude and eye for detail.
Flexible and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness.

Desirable:

Experience in catering, hospitality, or customer service (preferred but not essential).
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
Previous experience in a school or hospitality environment.
Barista or front-of-house experience.
