We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated Theatre Stores Manager to join the One Lancashire & South Cumbria (One LSC) Procurement and Supply Chain Team, leading the Theatre Stores service at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust (ELHT) .

As Theatre Stores Manager, you will oversee all aspects of stock and inventory management, ensuring the timely receipt, replenishment, storage and distribution of supplies to meet the demands of busy clinical environments that support the delivery of safe, effective patient care.
You will act as a visible and accessible point of contact for Theatre teams, building strong relationships with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver a responsive and reliable supply chain service.
Through effective leadership and engagement, you will foster a positive team culture focused on continuous improvement, service excellence and achieving departmental objectives.

Main Duties Summary
The Theatre Stores Manager will lead and coordinate the Theatre Stores team, ensuring the delivery of an efficient, customer-focused materials management and logistics service across Theatre and clinical departments.
The role is responsible for overseeing stock management processes, including ordering, replenishment, receipt, storage and distribution of supplies, ensuring stock availability, compliance with inventory procedures and value for money.
The successful candidate will manage team performance and workload, support staff development, and maintain high standards of customer service through close collaboration with clinical teams, Procurement and Logistics colleagues. They will act as a key point of contact for supply chain matters, resolve queries, monitor expenditure and stock usage, and lead regular reviews to drive service improvement and operational efficiency.
The role requires a proactive and hands-on approach, including maintaining safe and effective store environments, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, financial regulations, health and safety requirements, and supporting the introduction of new systems and processes.
The post holder will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, savings programmes and the wider strategic objectives of the Trust and One Lancashire & South Cumbria (One LSC).

MAIN DUTIES:
Manage and coordinate the workload of and motivate a customer facing Materials Management team that provides a professional supply chain and logistics service.
Lead in the provision of a materials managed service, undertaking the day to day ordering activity on behalf of the customer.
Replenishing goods at ward and departmental level using inventory management systems as appropriate.
Receive, check and put away deliveries ordered via materials management service. Ensuring that items are rotated and do not exceed expiry dates, stored in the correct location maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Ensure general tidiness of store is maintained and reviews of the team members areas are undertaken by the team supervisor.
The position requires physical effort often in confined spaces on a daily basis such as the manual handling of roll cages and unpacking of products on to the store room shelves.
Process and monitor discrepancies ensuring that returns and credits are processed appropriately. Managers should ensure procedures are being followed and undertaken correctly.
Ensuring quarterly reviews with appropriate theatre /department leads have taken place, using system information to illustrate spending patterns identifying products and stock levels.
Assist team members with carrying out quarterly reviews by attending at least two meetings per annum with each team member under supervision.
Act as a ‘Super User’ for Materials Management systems and processes.
Keep all associated paperwork regularly updated in line with code and location changes.
Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.
Assist with the provision of cover to other areas of Materials Management when necessary, ensuring this is adequate in times of leave and sickness.
Ensure compliance with Trust financial instructions and policies.
Other duties as required.
COMMUNICATION
Work closely with other members of the Materials Management, One LSC Team and wider theatre /departmental based Trust colleagues.
Communications will involve providing advice either by face to face and by telephone, within meetings, written, letters, memorandum and e-mail
Resolve customer queries/complaints.
Develop strong working relationships with Trust colleagues.
Build and maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
- Undertake all relevant mandatory training.

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To purchase goods and services, within agreed targets and for specific customer groups and departments.
Develop and maintain a sound knowledge of products.
Assist in value for money studies to contribute to savings targets and regularly report spend/savings activity.
To participate in the development and performance of the Supply Chain/Materials Management Team in accordance with the Trust’s business plan.
Ensure that clinical incidents are reported and dealt with in accordance with the Trust’s procedures, liaise with appropriate staff and keep records maintained.
Advise customers of inabilities to supply and offer alternatives where identified.
Advise customers of slow or non-moving stocks and act appropriately for the benefit of the Trust.
Ensure that a clean and safe working environment is maintained.
Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with the Trust’s Health & Safety policy.
Ensure that appropriate records are kept and filed on behalf of customers in accordance with audit procedures.
When required, provide input and assistance in introducing new technology processes across the One LSC in line with departmental strategies
Report ongoing savings achieved in line with departmental procedure.
Provide appropriate cover for the Theatre Stores Manager at the other sites within ELHT
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Have a good understanding and awareness of Trust Policies and Procedures.
Ensure compliance with Trust Standing Financial Instructions, EU Legislation and C.I.P.S. code of conduct.
Ensure that team members under supervision are offered job related training, in line with identified training needs and comply with mandatory training and appraisal requirements.
Carry out annual PDR’s and undertake reviews at regular meetings.
Contribute to the development and performance of the Materials Management team by personally participating in training and development activities.

Post holders are required to attend any relevant and mandatory training for the post.

Any other work or outside interests must not conflict with the duties and responsibilities of your attendance for work as an employee of East Lancashire Hospitals Trust.
