Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our team within a reputable care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This role offers an opportunity to supervise and support junior staff while ensuring personalised care plans are effectively implemented. The Senior Care Assistant will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all residents.

Duties

Lead and supervise care staff to deliver compassionate and professional assistance to residents.
Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and medication management in accordance with individual care plans.
Develop, review, and update personalised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.
Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes that may require medical attention or intervention.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe environment at all times.
Support residents in participating in social activities and promote their independence.
Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and communicate effectively with team members regarding residents’ needs.
Assist with organising transportation for appointments or outings, utilising driving skills when necessary.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a positive team environment.

Skills

Proven experience in senior care or supervising within a care home setting.
Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members.
Competence in developing and implementing personalised care plans tailored to individual needs.
Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
Valid driving licence is desirable for assisting with transportation needs.
Knowledge of senior care practices, health & safety regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
