Full job description

Hire Desk Controller

Location: Maidstone, Kent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm

We're looking for an experienced Hire Desk Controller to join our busy and growing team.

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll be working alongside our Hire Desk Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the hire desk while delivering excellent customer service.

Your responsibilities will include:

Answering incoming phone calls and responding to customer emails.
Taking hire enquiries and booking jobs onto our hire system.
Organising and coordinating deliveries and collections with our transport team.
Assisting the Hire Desk Manager with the day-to-day operation of the office.
Liaising with customers, drivers and suppliers.
Ensuring all paperwork and job details are completed accurately.
Providing excellent customer service at all times.

Essential requirements:

Previous experience in a hire desk, plant hire, tool hire, construction, transport or similar office environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong mathematical ability and confidence working with figures.
Good computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
A high level of common sense and the ability to use your own initiative.
Ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure.
