Support Worker & Delivery Administrator

Do you want a job where what you do genuinely makes a difference?

At 21 Together, we believe that children and young people with Down’s syndrome should have every opportunity to develop their communication, confidence and independence and to reach their full potential.

We are looking for a Support Worker & Delivery Administrator to join our team and play an important role in making that happen.

This is a primarily hands-on support role, working directly with children and young people as part of our intervention and communication programmes. Alongside this, you will have dedicated administrative responsibilities that help our teams deliver effective services across our intervention, outreach and Community Support work.

It is a varied role for someone who enjoys working with people but also takes real satisfaction from being organised, accurate and getting things done.

Hours and working pattern

The role combines regular in-person Support Worker hours with flexible Delivery Administration hours.

Support Worker hours:

Alternate Saturdays during term time, approximately 21 Saturdays per year
8.30am–4.30pm, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (7.5 paid hours)
Based in Maidstone
Supporting our Infants group (4–7 years)

Delivery Administration hours:

Up to 5 additional hours per week
These hours can be worked on a hybrid basis, with days and times agreed with the successful candidate and according to service requirements

All hours worked will be claimed via a monthly timesheet in accordance with our policies.

There may also be opportunities for additional hours during school closure periods, including supporting holiday clubs, as well as occasional one-off events and activity sessions.

This could therefore be an excellent role for someone looking for a regular part-time position with a predictable weekend commitment, alongside flexible weekday hours.

About the role

Working under the direction of our Inclusion Practitioners, you will support the delivery of a range of programmes for children and young people with Down’s syndrome.

Your direct delivery work may include:

Supporting communication, education and social groups
Helping children and young people participate in activities and develop new skills
Supporting small-group and whole-group activities
Working alongside specialist teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals
Supporting children and young people with a wide range of abilities and communication needs
Helping to create a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment
Building positive relationships with children, young people and their families
Supporting speech clubs, holiday activities and other programmes as required

Alongside this, you will provide practical administration that helps our services run smoothly. This will include:

Maintaining accurate service-user, group, attendance and session records
Updating databases and other digital systems
Supporting the organisation of intervention sessions and outreach visits
Assisting with administration relating to our Community Support service
Responding to routine enquiries from parents, schools and professionals
Preparing registers, information and resources
Collating information and evaluation data
Supporting the team with basic reports and monitoring information
Helping to ensure that the practical arrangements around our services are organised and up to date

You won't be expected to know everything from day one. You will work as part of a supportive team and receive training in our systems, specialist approaches and the ways we work.

About you

We're looking for someone who is warm, enthusiastic, organised and genuinely enjoys working with children and young people.

You might already have experience as a Support Worker, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Nursery Practitioner or in another role supporting children or young people with additional needs.

You don't necessarily need previous experience of Down’s syndrome — although experience of working with children or young people with additional needs, learning disabilities or communication difficulties would be valuable.

You will need to be:

Confident building positive relationships with children and young people
Patient, adaptable and able to recognise that everyone communicates and learns differently
A good communicator who can work positively with families, colleagues and professionals
Comfortable following guidance from group leaders, specialist teachers and therapists
Organised and able to manage a mixture of practical and administrative tasks
Accurate and attentive to detail when maintaining records and information
Comfortable using email, databases, spreadsheets and other basic IT systems
Able to work independently while knowing when to ask for help or escalate a concern
A positive team player who is willing to get stuck in
Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice
Passionate about the vision and values of 21 Together

Knowledge of Makaton, augmentative communication or positive behaviour approaches would be welcomed, but training can be provided.

A DBS check and appropriate safeguarding and first aid training will be required for the role.

Recruitment process and important dates

First-stage interviews: First-stage interviews will be held via Zoom.

Second-stage practical assessment: Candidates successful at first stage will be invited to a practical assessment at our Maidstone centre on Saturday 12 September 2026.

Please note that attendance at the second-stage practical assessment on 12 September is mandatory for candidates progressing to this stage.

Anticipated start date: The successful candidate will be expected to start 21st September 2026.

Please ensure you are available for both the 12 September practical assessment and the anticipated start date before applying.
