Title: Senior Programme Manager - Crewe

Hours: 5 days per week (37.5 Hours) Worked between Monday- Friday
Salary: Grade 2A - £44,720 - 48,332 (5% employer pension contribution,
Medicash and group life assurance, 27 days annual leave per annum for FTE plus
bank holidays)
Location: Contractually based from our Manchester Office, with some flexibility to work from home, subject to business requirements and line manager approval. Regular travel to programmes in the North West and occasional travel to other areas, as required.
Role Summary
The Senior Programme Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery and oversight of our new programme in Crewe. This will involve working with a range schools from nursery to post-secondary, local government, delivery partners and other key stakeholders. The role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious, passionate team committed to overcoming inequity and improving outcomes for children and young people.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Identify the key areas of strength and development within each education settings in relation to literacy.
- Support the schools in setting up appropriate assessments, preparing proposals for relevant interventions and determining what CPD would be most impactful in the schools.
- Support the adoption of a research-led approach to improving outcomes for young people, particularly the most vulnerable, helping both education and multi-agency settings to identify and evidence need, before designing and delivering collective solutions to these needs.
- Facilitate community of practice sessions with senior education leaders focused on identifying and supporting whole school inclusion and pupil outcomes.
- Develop the collective impact conditions, ensuring that all projects further establish a clear common agenda, shared measurement framework, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication channels and sustainable backbone function.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the Crewe education team and working alongside the Regional Programme Director and central teams across the organisation you will:
Provide Leadership and Oversight of the Crewe Education Projects
- Ensure the high quality identification, design and implementation of education projects across Crewe utilising evidence-informed approaches, data and insights
- Drive the design and systematisation of the Crewe education projects ensuring the development of necessary planning, implementation and monitoring resources to ensure that it can be replicated with fidelity by the team
- Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the Crewe education projects, ensuring all have a shared measurement framework and a monitoring and evaluation plan
- Work collaboratively with learning partners and external evaluators to identify key learning within and across the Crewe education projects.
Lead, Manage and Develop the Education Team
- Provide direct line management of the education programme team, including setting performance goals, weekly check-ins and monthly 1:1s to ensure key objectives are met
- Provide advice and guidance to the Crewe Education Team to support development goals to be identified and met
- Work alongside Senior Programme Managers to develop the Programme Managers across the charity through monthly group meetings and leading advice and guidance on specialist areas of expertise
- Work alongside Senior Programme Managers to design and deliver elements of quarterly programme team development days, ensuring learning and resources are shared effectively with staff to enable them to build it into their future business as usual.
Oversee Formal Education Delivery Partnerships and the Management of Education Stakeholders
- Ensure that the governance structure required for effective decision making across Crewe education projects is in place and thriving
- Work with the Programme Infrastructure to ensure that robust contractual agreements are in place with education delivery partners
- Oversee the education team’s approach to relationship management, ensuring that all necessary stakeholders are fully engaged with the education projects and participate in all required activity including capturing stakeholder feedback
Manage and Support with Communication and Representation of the Crewe Projects
- Work with the Communications Team to produce a communications cycle (including key events and regular written comms) for all Crewe education projects and oversee the delivery of this
- Work with the Fundraising Team to ensure education projects are effectively reported on to funders and commissioners
- Represent Crewe on a local and regional level, including attending key events and showcasing the education work
- Represent Right to Succeed at external events, sharing learning, insight and providing CPD

Travel
This role will require significant local travel between schools and other agencies within Crewe depending on the successful candidate, and occasional travel to Right to Succeed’s offices. It is essential that the post-holder has access to a car or excellent transport systems in order to travel efficiently between locations.
Person Specification
Experience (essential)
- At least 5 years’ experience of working with senior leadership teams within the education sector
- Proven experience of leading successful projects within some or all of the following areas: literacy, transition and SEND
- Proven experience of managing relationships with a range of senior stakeholders, including senior school and LA leaders
- Experience of applying understanding of the evidence base around education improvement
- Experience of using education data to analyse impact
- Experience leading collective-impact projects
- Experienced in team management, individual development, and leading by example
Experience (desirable)
- Experience of translating analytical research into practical recommendations and concrete actions
- Experience with literacy best practice, research and interventions
- Experience of successful multi-agency working

Qualifications and knowledge (essential)
- Teaching qualification
- In-depth knowledge of education improvement
- An understanding of research led practice in schools
- Ability to represent the charity credibly with schools and external contacts in the education sector
- A deep understanding of the local, regional and national education landscape

- Knowledge of Speech, Language, Communication and Literacy needs
