Full job description

Mechanical & Electrical Fitter (Permanent) Ref: MEF08/26

Working as part of the Engineering team. Responsible for carrying out maintenance of plant and machinery to ensure delivery of safe and efficient Port operations.

Essential Criteria:

Served a recognised mechanical or electrical apprenticeship to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
A time served mechanical or electrical fitter with at least 3 years’ experience.
Minimum 12 months experience of electrical maintenance on vehicles/machinery.
Ability to prioritise own workload to ensure that repairs are completed within target times.
Full current driving licence or, in the case of disabled applicants, access to a form of transport to enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post in full.
Proficient IT skills to include experience using MS Office including email systems.
Strong fault-finding and problem solving skills.

Desirable Criteria

Experience of maintenance and repair of mobile harbour cranes, skid steers or wheel loaders.
Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems, ideally gained through hands-on work or similar marine environments.
Experience using asset management or maintenance software systems.
Skilled across electrical, mechanical & hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
