Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Maker to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese dishes, ensuring all food safety standards are met. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents in a vibrant restaurant environment, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.

Duties

Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and attention to detail
Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety regulations
Assist in the organisation and cleanliness of the kitchen area, maintaining hygiene standards at all times
Follow recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and visual appeal of dishes
Collaborate with team members to manage meal preparation during busy periods
Maintain stock levels of ingredients and notify management of shortages or expiry dates
Adhere to health and safety protocols, including proper handling of knives and other kitchen equipment

Experience

Proven experience in food preparation, particularly in sushi or Japanese cuisine is desirable but NOT REQUIRED, we will train you.
Background in cooking within a professional kitchen environment, with a solid understanding of culinary techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation
Previous restaurant experience involving serving or front-of-house duties is advantageous but not essential
Familiarity with kitchen equipment used in sushi preparation, such as rice cookers, knives, and rolling mats
