Full job description

We are seeking a skilled and friendly GP Receptionist / Administrator to join our amazing team. The ideal candidate will provide efficient administrative support while delivering a professional, welcoming and high-quality service to patients and visitors.

Duties & Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors in a professional, friendly and helpful manner.
Schedule and manage appointments accurately and efficiently.
Maintain patient records and update information as required.
Answer telephone calls, emails and patient enquiries promptly and professionally.
Process payments and assist with insurance claims and related administration.
Prepare and send referrals to hospitals, specialists and other healthcare providers as required.
Receive, read and appropriately action clinical and administrative correspondence, including letters and reports, in line with practice procedures.
Upload and accurately file correspondence and documentation to patient records.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information in accordance with practice policies and data protection requirements.
Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
Support the wider practice team with general administrative duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Previous GP reception or medical administration experience is essential.
Experience of processing referrals and handling clinical correspondence is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office software.
A professional, friendly and compassionate approach to patient care.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
EMIS Web and Docman knowledge is desirable.
