Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Room Leader to oversee the care and development of infants within our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and fostering a nurturing environment. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team, ensure high standards of childcare, and contribute positively to early childhood development.

Duties

Lead and supervise a team, ensuring smooth daily operations and adherence to childcare policies.
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote early learning and development.
Maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for infants under your care.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and needs.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including safeguarding procedures.
Support team members through training, mentoring, and performance management.
Monitor individual children's development and keep accurate records of progress.
Organise resources and materials necessary for engaging activities and daily routines.
Drive continuous improvement in childcare quality through reflective practice and professional development.

Requirements

Proven management experience within a childcare setting, preferably in a nursery or early childhood education environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
Experience working directly with children, demonstrating patience and understanding.
Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and early childhood development principles.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Relevant qualifications in early childhood education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Ability to work flexibly within scheduled hours, including occasional driving if required for nursery-related duties.
A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth in a caring environment.
