Full job description

4-day working week (Monday to Thursday)

A specialist industrial automation company delivering innovative electrical, mechanical, and software solutions for manufacturing environments. We provide everything from individual design services through to complete turnkey automation projects.

We are currently looking for a motivated Control Panel Builder / Electrical Wirer to join our team in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

The Role

You will be involved in the manufacture, assembly, testing, installation, and support of industrial control systems. This is a hands-on role with variety across panel building, wiring, testing, and occasional site work.

Eligible to work in the UK - Sponsorship is not provided.
Need to be based within 30 miles of PE27

Key Responsibilities

Build and wire electrical control panels to a high standard
Assemble electrical cabinets and mechanical components
Carry out PCB assembly and soldering tasks
Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Support workshop assembly and general mechanical fitting duties
Assist with testing, fault finding, and problem solving on control systems
Support maintenance and upgrades of existing automation systems
Assist with PLC, HMI, and industrial communication systems (programming, maintenance, and upgrades)
Support design, build, installation, and commissioning of automation projects
Maintain stock levels within the panel build workshop
Attend customer sites when required for installation, commissioning, fault finding, and modifications

About You

1–2 years' experience building or wiring control panels
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Electrical qualifications or relevant electrical knowledge
Good soldering skills
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
Experience in electrical, controls, manufacturing, or automation environments is desirable
Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

Essential Requirements

Must already have the right to work in the UK
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
Applicants should live within approximately 30 miles of PE27 (St Ives, Cambridgeshire)

What We Offer

£16.00–£24.00 per hour, depending on experience
4-day working week (Monday to Thursday), 7:00am – 4:00pm
Opportunities to develop skills in PLCs, HMIs, control systems, and commissioning
Overtime opportunities where available
Flexible start and finish times are negotiable.

Control Panel Builder, Panel Wirer, Electrical Wirer, Electrical Technician, Controls Engineer, Automation Technician, PLC Technician, Electrical Fitter, Mechatronics Technician, Commissioning Engineer, or Industrial Electrician.
