3PL Manager

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire (on-site), with occasional travel to our 3PL partner sites in Europe and North America

The Role
We're looking for a 3PL Manager to join our growing Logistics team as the day-to-day owner of our third-party logistics network. That covers the 3PL warehouses that store and dispatch our products in the Netherlands, Torrance CA and Canada, along with the last-mile partners who deliver them to dealers and end customers.
We move high volumes of bulky product through this network, with hard physical ceilings at every warehouse site and demanding delivery expectations at the doorstep. This role makes the network run: keeping the capacity and stock projection models accurate, scheduling inbound containers against real available space, and holding every partner, warehousing and last-mile alike, to the same clear standard of SLA performance, cost control and accountability.
You'll work closely with purchasing, freight forwarders, ports, operational leadership and our 3PL partners. You'll be the person who knows, at any moment, how full every site is, what is arriving when, how deliveries are performing, and where the pressure points are over the next 12 weeks, and who acts on it before it becomes a problem.
Key Responsibilities
3PL warehousing
- Own the capacity model across the 3PL warehouse network, maintaining accurate projections of inbound volumes against each site's physical ceiling
- Coordinate inbound container scheduling with purchasing, freight forwarders and ports
- Manage daily operational relationships with warehouse partners: order flow, SLA performance, issue resolution and escalations
- Recommend and coordinate stock balancing and diversion decisions when capacity or demand shifts
- Support the transition of the full product range to the Netherlands 3PL, including data setup, process mapping and go-live support
- Identify and deliver improvements to slotting, space utilisation and flow
Last-mile 3PLs
- Manage last-mile partners to the same standard as the warehouse network, including issue resolution, escalations and continuous improvement
- Monitor and drive delivery performance: on-time delivery, first-time delivery success, damage and claims rates, and customer delivery experience
- Manage delivery cost per unit and rate compliance
- Coordinate delivery capacity with warehouse dispatch plans during peak periods
Across the network
- Track and validate all 3PL invoicing across warehousing and last-mile against contracted rates and actual activity, recovering discrepancies
- Support the selection and onboarding of new partners as the network grows
- Produce weekly capacity, inbound, stock projection and delivery performance reporting for operational leadership
- Maintain accurate lead time and transit assumptions in planning systems
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience in logistics, supply chain or 3PL management within a product business
- Hands-on experience working with or within 3PL operations, covering warehousing, last-mile carriers, or both
- Strong Excel and data skills, comfortable building and maintaining capacity or planning models
- Well organised with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Confident communicator, able to hold external partners to account constructively
Desirable
- Experience managing last-mile, two-person home delivery or parcel carriers, ideally for bulky goods
- Experience with international freight and container shipping
- Familiarity with WMS, TMS or ERP systems
- Experience supporting warehouse or carrier transitions and go-lives
