HR Specialist (FTC) Vacancy

Location: Rapid Clean Head Office in Wokingham

Job Type: 12–18 month Fixed Term Contract, with potential opportunities after the FTC ends

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours: Office based, 37.5 hours per week. 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, core hours between 07:30 and 18:00, with flexibility depending on the needs of the business. One-hour lunch break at a time convenient to the Company.

The role:

We’re looking for an experienced and confident HR Specialist to join our team on a fixed-term basis.

Working closely with the Senior HR Specialist and HR & Payroll Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering a professional, consistent and solutions-focused HR service across the business.

This role offers exposure to the full employee lifecycle, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, HR advisory support, and process improvement, while not holding technical lead responsibility.

What you’ll do:

HR Advisory & Employee Relations (Core Focus)

Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on policies, procedures, TUPE, and employment legislation
Support and manage a range of employee relations cases, including absence, disciplinary, grievance, and performance issues
Manage sickness absence processes end-to-end, including monitoring trends, supporting return-to-work discussions, and advising on triggers and next steps
Work closely with the Senior HR Specialist and Head of People & Culture on more complex cases
Coach managers to build confidence and capability in people management
Produce clear, accurate and compliant HR documentation, including letters and outcome notes

HR Operations & Lifecycle Support

Support key HR processes across the employee lifecycle including onboarding, probation, performance, and offboarding
Oversee HR administration and ensure consistency and compliance with company standards
Maintain accurate employee records across HR systems, including absence and compliance data
Support onboarding processes and resolve escalations where required, particularly around compliance and DBS issues
Coordinate and support TUPE transfers, including data gathering, due diligence, documentation, and employee communications
Ensure all HR processes and documentation are compliant with employment legislation and internal policy

Collaboration & Business Support

Work closely with the Senior HR Specialist and HR & Payroll Assistant to deliver a joined-up HR service
Partner with operational managers to provide practical, business-focused HR solutions
Build strong relationships across head office and field-based teams
Provide support and guidance to more junior HR team members where appropriate

Projects & Continuous Improvement

Contribute to and support HR projects including policy reviews, engagement initiatives, and process improvements
Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and employee experience
Support change initiatives and TUPE-related transitions, ensuring clear and consistent communication across the business

You are:

· Someone with strong generalist HR knowledge with a particular strength in employee relations

· Confident providing HR advice independently, while knowing when to escalate

· Able to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Someone with excellent communication and influencing skills

· Strong regarding attention to detail and organisational skills

· Proactive, solutions-focused, and collaborative in approach

· Comfortable working closely with senior colleagues and supporting wider team development, working both independently and as part of a team

· Flexible and adaptable to business needs

What you’ll need:

· Strong IT skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)

· Previous experience in an HR Advisor / HR Specialist / Generalist role

· Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice

· Experience managing employee relations cases

· CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience) desirable

· Ability to work full-time from the office
