Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced grill chef at The Barak. Someone who already knows how to cook a great steak.

The ideal candidate will be well-presented, motivated and be able to work as part of a small team as well as independently.

Candidates need to have excellent knowledge of food hygiene and allergen regulations.

Previous experience of working in a busy restaurant kitchen environment is essential.

Candidates should be able to provide two references. The position will involve working evenings and weekends as well as other shifts.

Work Location: In person

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grill Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality steak in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This role requires a passion for food, excellent kitchen skills, and a commitment to food safety standards. The successful applicant will contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences for our guests through efficient meal preparation and presentation.

Duties

Prepare and cook grilled dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards
Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the grill station and surrounding areas
Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times
Assist with other kitchen duties such as prep work, plating, and assisting front-of-house staff when needed
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and notify management of shortages
Ensure proper storage of ingredients and leftovers in accordance with safety protocols
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours

Experience

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a restaurant setting
Knowledge of culinary techniques, especially grilling methods
Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in a commercial kitchen environment
Previous experience in meal preparation, kitchen organisation, and maintaining cleanliness standards is preferred
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with excellent organisational skills is advantageous
Serving experience is beneficial but not essential; however, understanding customer service principles is valued
