SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School

Location: Littlehampton
Start Date: September 2026 – trials before summer
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30, Term time only
Contract: Long-Term

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a mainstream primary school?

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school, providing support to pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will work with children with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a variety of additional needs.
Support children with needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, learning difficulties and other SEND.
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and encourage pupil engagement.
Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to deliver tailored support.
Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence.
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment across all year groups.

The Ideal Candidate

Has experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
Has a good understanding of a range of additional needs.
Is calm, patient, empathetic and resilient.
Can build positive relationships and support pupils with varying learning styles.
Works well as part of a team and uses their own initiative.
Is committed to helping every child succeed.
