What you’ll be doing

This is a fixed-term role for 7 months, created to support the delivery of recommendations from the Speaker's Conference on the employment conditions of Members' staff. As a Wellbeing Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring Members and their staff have access to high-quality health and wellbeing support, advice, and guidance, helping to create a positive and supportive working environment across Parliament.

Working within the Parliamentary Health and Wellbeing Service (PHWS), you will collaborate closely with the Members and Members' Staff Services Team and a range of stakeholders across both Houses of Parliament. As part of a multidisciplinary team of clinical and administrative professionals, you will:

Work directly with Members, Office Managers and Members' staff across the UK, providing one-to-one wellbeing support to improve physical and mental wellbeing, developing tailored plans using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing model.
Provide practical wellbeing advice, guidance and signposting to appropriate internal and external support services, ensuring individuals receive the right help at the right time through a person-centred and needs-led approach.
Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Members and Members' Staff Services Team, Office Manager networks, Trade Unions, and other internal and external partners, while promoting awareness and engagement with the wellbeing services available across the Parliamentary community.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact, helping to strengthen wellbeing support for Members and their staff while contributing to Parliament's commitment to an inclusive, healthy and thriving workplace.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

What we’re looking for

Qualifications

Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, a Psychology degree (or equivalent), or substantial experience in a workplace health and wellbeing role.

Health & Wellbeing Knowledge

Good understanding of mental health, wellbeing, and supporting individuals in the workplace through coaching, mentoring, or advisory approaches.
Awareness of the barriers that may be experienced by neurodivergent individuals and those with long-term health conditions.
Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, health and safety, confidentiality, GDPR, and equality, diversity and inclusion principles.

Delivering Information & Decision Making

Experience providing advice, guidance, and signposting to appropriate support services.
Able to make informed decisions, use initiative, and adopt a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Experience managing sensitive situations, complaints, or conflict effectively.

Customer Service & Teamwork

Strong customer service skills with the confidence to support individuals in challenging or complex situations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a commitment to inclusion and respect.

Best Practice & Governance

Understanding of evidence-based practice, governance, and accurate record keeping.
Knowledge of safe working practices, policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining high professional standards.

Organisation & Communication Skills

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting information to groups both in person and virtually.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications and using digital tools to manage workloads effectively.
