Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced kitchen/canteen environment. As a Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the culinary team by ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and hospitality, and who thrive in a collaborative setting.

A full and clean UK manual drivers licence is needed for this role as you could be asked to cover the snack van as required by day to day operations, but this role is mainly based in the canteen.

Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of ingredients for cooking and food service.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, pots, and pans.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
Support chefs and cooks by providing necessary supplies and ingredients during service.
Help with the disposal of waste and recycling in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards to maintain a safe working environment.
Participate in stock management by assisting with inventory checks and reporting shortages.

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is advantageous but not essential.
A keen interest in culinary arts and food preparation.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Good communication skills to liaise with chefs and other kitchen staff.
Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required.
Must be 25 years and over (requirement for van drivers)
Must have a full, clean manual drivers licence (requirement for van drivers)

Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, Immediate Start

Monday - Friday

Hours: 0600-1600 (8/9 hour shifts within these hours)

DUE TO LOCATION OWN TRANSPORT IS ESSENTIAL.

DUE TO OUR CLIENTS REQUIREMENTS YOU WILL BE SUBJECT TO ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING.

Please note: we require all staff to have the following qualifications before we can get them in the kitchen:

⁠ ⁠Allergen Awareness and Food Intolerances

⁠ ⁠⁠COSHH Awareness for Hospitality

⁠ ⁠⁠Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 for Catering

If you don’t already have these, please do not worry; we can set you up on our online learning platform (Tayl). Each course only takes around 30 minutes to complete, and once done, they are yours to keep!
