Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Barista/Sales Assistant to join our team. This role involves preparing and serving high-quality beverages, assisting customers with their orders, and maintaining a welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, possess basic food safety knowledge, and be capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in food preparation, serving, and sales within a vibrant café environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and other beverages in accordance with company standards.
Assist customers with their orders, providing friendly and attentive service.
Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the till system efficiently.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area, seating space, and food preparation zones.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
Support in food preparation tasks when required, including assembling sandwiches or snacks.
Manage time effectively to serve customers promptly during busy periods.
Uphold high standards of customer service to promote repeat business and positive experiences.

Requirements

Previous experience as a barista or in a customer-facing food service role is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is desirable.
Ability to handle cash transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems.
Basic maths skills for handling payments and balancing tills.
Good time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently during busy hours.
Strong communication skills with a friendly demeanour towards customers and team members.
Ability to work flexibly across various shifts, including weekends if required.
A proactive attitude with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
