We are looking for a proactive and organised Supervisor to lead recycling and waste teams within our Neighbourhoods and Housing directorate.

The role:

In the role of supervisor, you will oversee the day to day service delivery of a waste services including domestic, recycling, food waste, communal, commerical or bulk collections. You must ensure work is planned effectively safety standards are met, and operational data is accurately captured.
As a supervisor you will coordinate staff, vehicles and equipment to maintain high service standards, while actively promoting a positive health and safety culture across all operations. This role also involves working collaboratively across services, responding to customer enquiries, and using technology and data to drive continuous improvement.
As a supervisor within the service, you will manage and develop operational staff through effective supervision, performance management, and regular workforce planning.
In the role of supervisor you will contribute to wider coporate objectives by supporting the Council Plan, championing excellent customer service, and ensuring resources are used efficiently. The role requires someone with strong communication and organisational skills, previous supervisory experience, and the ability to work confidently in a fast‑paced, outdoor focused operational environment.

A full driving licence (Cat B) and detailed understanding or experience of working within a local government setting is essential.

This role is based on a 35-hour working week. The post holder will work 7-hour shifts between 6:00am and 3:30pm, with exact working patterns determined by the Service Manager. Flexibility is required to meet the operational needs of the service and, where necessary, hours may vary. In addition to the salary, the post attracts an Irregular Hours Allowance of £1,361 per annum.

Please note that, as part of this role, it is a contractual requirement to work all Bank Holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Additional pay will be provided for Bank Holiday working.
