Remote Medical Secretary & Telephonist (UK Based)

Acorn Private Clinic – Penarth, South Wales (Remote after training)

£13.50 per hour | 25 hours per week | Monday-Friday | 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Acorn Private Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary & Telephonist to join our growing private healthcare team. This is a UK-based remote role, with an initial 4-week training period on-site at our Penarth clinic before transitioning to home-based remote working.

We are looking for someone with previous experience working in the UK medical sector, who is confident handling patient enquiries, managing appointments, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of a busy private clinic.

Key responsibilities

Answer incoming calls from patients in a professional and empathetic manner
Book, amend, and cancel appointments across multiple clinicians and services
Coordinate patient bookings and clinic schedules
Respond to patient enquiries and provide accurate information
Manage referrals, correspondence, and administrative tasks
Liaise with clinicians and other team members to ensure efficient patient care
Maintain accurate patient records and uphold confidentiality at all times

Essential requirements

Previous experience in a UK medical, GP, hospital, or private healthcare setting (mandatory)
Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
Strong organisational and administrative abilities
Experience using medical practice management systems is desirable
Confident using Microsoft Office and standard computer systems
Ability to work independently from home after training
Reliable internet connection and a suitable home working environment

What we offer

£13.50 per hour
25 hours per week
Remote working after successful completion of a 4-week on-site training period

Location

Training will take place at Acorn Private Clinic, Penarth, South Wales. Following training, the role will be remote/home-based, and applicants must be based in the UK.
