Salary: HP2 £75,501- £82,875 (Please note you will be appointed at the beginning of the band and increment to the top of the band)

Location: Durham Constabulary Headquarters

Hours/Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 37 hours per week across Monday to Friday

The Role

As a member of the Senior Management Team to be responsible for the strategic management of the Force estate and overview of facilities.

As part of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting operational policing and delivering high-quality services to the public. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will collaborate with colleagues and partners to achieve positive outcomes and uphold our core values of professionalism, integrity, and service.

What You’ll Do

Be responsible for a diverse operational estate comprising police stations, custody facilities and operational sites across County Durham and Darlington.

Lead the strategic development and delivery of Durham Constabulary's estate portfolio, ensuring facilities support operational policing requirements, statutory compliance obligations and long-term organisational objectives.

To participate in the strategic and functional direction of the Enabling Services Department as a member of the Senior Management Team.

To develop, implement and co-ordinate an estate strategy which supports the Corporate Plan and provides an estate profile that reflects operational needs and represents best value.

To be responsible for the management of the annual programme of minor revenue works, including reactive repairs, planned maintenance and minor building works to ensure that the buildings used by the Force are fit for purpose.

Deliver high standards of service aligned with organisational priorities

Lead property acquisition, disposal and redevelopment projects.

Ensure compliance with property, health and safety and environmental legislation.

Provide professional advice to Chief Officers and senior stakeholders.

Develop long-term accommodation strategies.

Lead facilities management and contractor performance.

What You’ll Bring

Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS – or equivalent chartered property qualification)
At least 1 years previous senior management experience
At least 2 years previous management experience
At least 3 years previous professional experience
A strong commitment to public service and our organisational values
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Relevant qualifications and/or experience for the role
