Job Title: Dispatch Assistant

Location: Unit 5, 83 - 95 Hainault Road, Collier Row, Romford, RM5 3AH

Contract Type: Part time, 20 Hours a week

Salary: £12.71 / hour (National Minimum Wage)

Overview:

Our love affair with cakes began back in 2002 when we opened our first Cakes & Bakes branch in Eastham, London.

We imagined a place where customers searching for scrumptious eggless cakes and savouries could discover a wide range fit for any occasion, without paying through the roof.

Duties:

· Prepare and pack orders for dispatch according to the daily schedule.

· Ensure all items are checked for quality and accuracy before dispatch.

· Label and document packages correctly to ensure smooth tracking and delivery.

· Coordinate with delivery drivers, transport companies to ensure timely dispatch of orders.

· Update the dispatch schedule and assist in planning efficient routes for deliveries.

· Communicate with the Head of Dispatch on any delays, issues, or urgent orders.

· Monitor stock levels and ensure all dispatched items are accounted for.

· Report any stock discrepancies, low inventory levels, or damaged goods to the inventory team.

· Assist with monthly or weekly inventory counts to maintain accurate stock records.

· Maintain accurate records of all outgoing deliveries, including invoices, delivery notes, and inventory usage.

· Update the dispatch log daily and track all shipments to confirm successful delivery.

· Assist in filing and organizing dispatch-related documents for quick retrieval and reference.

· Coordinate with the sales and customer service teams to resolve any dispatch-related issues quickly and effectively.

· Follow health and safety guidelines when handling, packing, and dispatching goods.

· Ensure that all dispatch procedures align with company policies and local regulatory requirements.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

Communication skills both listening and verbal
Ability to build good working relationships
Ability to work using own initiative
Strong English language.
Good Experience as a dispatch assistant or related roles

Soft skills:

Team player
Flexible and open-minded, able to adapt within a fast-changing environment
Quick self-starter, pro-active attitude
